Our program
Side by Side Kids serves Pre-K through fifth-grade students in some of Austin's most under-resourced areas. SBSK was established to provide after-school academic support and spiritual growth for economically disadvantaged students. Our hope is to provide them with a brighter future by encouraging and equipping them with the skills and confidence to reach their highest potential.
Curriculum
We worked with professors from The University of Texas to develop a new curriculum for our program that breaks up the afternoon into 4 sections- snack time, homework time, crew time, and recreation time. Each week, we focus on different character traits such as faithfulness, compassion, and perseverance. Our educators use a variety of teaching strategies, including physical activities, music, and art.

Research shows that a quality afterschool program can significantly impact a child’s future success. The hours between 3 pm and 6 pm are the riskiest for adolescence and when they are most likely to be exposed to dangerous choices. At Side By Side Kids, we provide an environment that is safe, supportive, and focused on developing children academically, emotionally, and spiritually. As a faith-based organization, we highlight the importance of character and how to incorporate these values into everyday life.
